Wolves beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Saturday (June 28) courtesy of a Leander Dendoncker goal to go 5th, two points behind Chelsea and above Manchester United who had an FA cup game.
Wolves must now feel comfortable about a charge for 4th place, in a three-horse race with Chelsea and Man United. Leicester, currently in third, will also be looking behind their rearview mirror.
Dendoncker was delighted with his goal.
“Everyone dreams, but we also have to be realistic,” said Dendoncker. “We have some tough games coming up, but it is good – we took nine points from nine. We just have to do our best game by game.”
Aston Villa Manager, Dean Smith’s would be worried by their failure as they remain in 19th position with 27 points.
It was a game in which they could have at least secured at least a draw, which could have lifted them out of the relegation zone but they could only muster one shot on target through Jack Grealish in the first half.
