André Ayew scores and assists for Swansea at Boro

Ghana forward, André Ayew enjoyed a dream return to action after the COVID-19 break with a goal and assist for Swansea City in the English Championship.

The Swans gave their play-off hopes a major boost by travelling to beat Middlesbrough 3-0 at Riverside Stadium on Saturday (June 20).

All goals came in the first half with Liverpool loanee Rhian Brewster bagging a brace while Ayew converted a penalty for a huge halftime lead.

Brewster put the Swans in front after 18 minutes of play by turning home Andre Ayew’s cross from inside the six-yard box.

He then got his second in as many minutes, volleying home Kalulu Aldo’s cross after another brilliant move by the visitors.

Not long after the half-hour mark, Swansea’s Conor Gallagher was tripped in the box, leaving the referee with no choice but whistle for a penalty.

Andre Ayew stepped up and calmly sent the Boro keeper the wrong way to register his 15th goal of the campaign in the 34th minute.

No goal was produced in a pretty uneventful second half with Ayew enjoying 81 minutes of game time before making way for Yan Dhanda.

The 3-0 victory propels Swansea to 7th with 56 points after 38 matches.
