Arsenal have won this season’s FA Cup after coming from behind to beat London rivals, Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley on Saturday (August 1).
Chelsea started the brighter of the two sides and took a deserved lead through American star, Christian Pulisic. The ball was worked brilliantly through the middle, and Mason Mount proceeded to provide a brilliant cross which was sensationally flicked on by Olivier Giroud into the path of Pulisic. Pulisic kept his cool and then applied a deft finish which beat the Arsenal goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez for the opener on five minutes.
Arsenal battled back gamely and were back on level terms just before the half-hour through captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabonese striker dispatched a penalty with frightening force, sending Willy Caballero the wrong way, moments after he was fouled in the box.
Aubameyang was to claim the winner in the 68th minute following a coolly laid pass from Nicolas Pepe following good work from Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal have now qualified for next season’s UEFA Europa League and it papers the cracks over a poor 2019/20 Premier League campaign. The Gunners finished eighth in the Premier League this term—their worst position since 1995.
