Arsenal win the Community Shield

Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster came on in the dying minutes of the Community Shield and his first touch was a miss in the penalty shootout that gave Arsenal the game on Saturday (August 29).

The night, however, belonged to Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who had until the shootout scored Arsenal’s only goal – and it was he who dispatched the winning penalty and another win for Arsenal.

Aubameyang opened the scoring in the first half following a cross-field pass from Bukayo Saka. The Gabonese striker curled the ball past Allison.

Japanese striker Takumi Minamino equalised for Liverpool late in the game with a superb strike following a break and exchange with Mohamed Salah. There were calls of handball against Salah but VAR gave the goal.
