Barcelona refused to negotiate Messi transfer

Lionel Messi’s Father, Jorge and FC Barcelona President, Josep Maria Bartomeu met on Wednesday afternoon at the club’s facilities to discuss the Argentine attacker’s future.

The meeting lasted for less than two hours.

Barça through Bartomeu stated, as reported by Marca, that they will not negotiate the exit of Messi, who has already stated publicly and privately that he wants to leave the club.

The meeting was also attended by Javier Bordas, a manager of the club closely linked to sports, and Rodrigo, Messi’s brother and trusted advisor.

It has been reported that despite the difference in opinion held by both parties, there has been no tension in the meeting.

In fact, they will keep in touch, so more conversations are not ruled out soon.

Bartomeu clings to the fact that the release clause expired on June 10, therefore the player is not free to leave the club and is obligated to return to training.

Messi’ scamp however maintain that a relevant clause of the contract between both parties makes it possible for Messi to leave the club this summer.

Jorge also mainatained in Wednesday’s meeting that  it will be “very difficult” for his son to continue at Barcelona as a player of the club.

Therefore the game does not advance, both parties castled in their hitherto immovable positions.
