Bashiru complains of lull from football blackout

Nasarawa United central defender Monsuru Bashiru has described as uncomfortable the lull in football activities as a result of the novel coronavirus crisis.

Nigeria’s top-flight and other leagues have been brought to a complete halt no thanks to the ravaging worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

Bashiru said his most fervent prayer at the moment is for the coronavirus health challenge to quickly come to an end so that league action will commence in earnest.

“The experience of the coronavirus induced lockdown and sit-at-home so far has been boring and uncomfortable.

“One has been forced to stay indoors and the little training one does have been within one’s apartment.

“Right now there is no form of football activities going on not even street football everything is at standstill.

“For us as players we sleep and wake up thinking of football now for the past three weeks one has not been able to carry out any of the normal routine.

“I’m really missing the league. I’m missing the daily training and I will want to see the coronavirus pandemic over so that we can return to the pitch.

“I’m not enjoying the sit-at home order, it’s 100% boring and uncomfortable even though we are still expected to stay with it until the crisis is over,” said the former MFM strongman.

Bashiru said his side are aware of rumours going on concerning the league but pray that decision at the end of the day should favour his side.

“Well, we are aware of the rumour for the league body to cancel or continue with the league season. Our prayer is whatever decision is taken at the end of the day should favour us.

“Our position on the league table is not comfortable however we have resolved to work hard to ensure the team avoid relegation at the end of the day,” said the former Lobi Stars defender.

The Lafia side are 17th on the 20-team top-flight log on 29 points 20 behind league leaders, Plateau United.
