Betsafe bets on Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

Kenya football giants,  Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have signed a new partnership deal with betting firm Betsafe.

The deal was announced on  Thursday (June 18) and will continue through the 2023  football season. Betsafe will be found boldly on the shirts of both iconic Clubs.

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier is delighted:

“This partnership will when football resumes offer our club substantial financial support from a strong and safe partner for the coming three years.

“We are happy to announce this deal with Betsafe. A very welcoming message to our fans that we have secured a long term financial support from a strong and safe partner. Our partner shares our passion and values about football and the excitement that comes with it,” Rachier said.

Dr Dan Shikanda, Chairman AFC Leopards SC was equally delighted

“We are very proud to announce this new major deal with the Betsafe brand, especially to our fans. For us, this sponsorship means everything, as it gives us a sense of security and works peace to be able to focus even more on becoming the best team in the country. With Betsafe, we have a reliable partner with a strong focus on responsible gaming and passion for football”

The sports betting firm will hope to launch on the back of the huge following enjoyed by both clubs, while Tom Bwana, PR & Partner Manager at Bet High (K) Ltd can’t wait to set the ball rolling.

“We will be launching in the Kenyan market very soon and our top priority is to support Kenyan football. Being a responsible gaming provider since the very beginning we aim to bring more engagement and excitement together with Leopards SC in the near future,” he said.

Former sponsor SportPesa pulled out of contracts with Kenya’s top-flight teams after leaving the country following a regulatory dispute with tax authorities. However, the betting company had already grown into a force in world sports betting force after Guerassim Nikolov founded the company in Kenya in 2014. Sportpesa, which launched on the back of massive growth in mobile phone penetration across the region, proved to the world that Kenya – indeed, East Africa – is a lucrative potential market for sports betting companies.
