This means that the 32-year-old will leave the European champions on a free transfer when his contract expires following lengthy years of service to the club. Boateng joined Bayern from Premier League side Manchester City in the 2010/11 season.
He had previously spent a combined five seasons at Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV. Boateng’s agent, Damir Smoljan, recently said he was ‘open to contract talks’ with the Bavarians.
However, much to the disappointment of Boateng, the German champions have reportedly now decided that the 32-year-old centre-back will not be offered a new deal.
Bild mentions Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham as potential destinations for Boateng, who might also consider a move to the United States.
Meanwhile, Boateng’s management has reportedly expressed surprise with the report by BILD as they claim that they have not been informed of a decision by Bayern.
The German defender has made a total of 333 appearances for Bayern, with nine goals and 24 assists to his name.
