Bundesliga wrap: Gnabry pushes Bayern over the line, Borussia Dortmund struggle.

Bayern Munich registered their first win of the 2021-22 Bundesliga season as they dug deep to fight off a resilient FC Köln.

The victory came thanks to Serge Gnabry’s winner which helped the reigning champions to a 3-2 win on Sunday.

Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock with a goal on 50 minutes and Gnabry scored his first of two goals as he doubled Julian Nagelsmann’s side’s tally eight minutes later.

Four minutes later, Bayern were stunned as Köln equalised with two goals in two minutes. Anthony Modeste scored at the hour mark and Marc Uth levelled matters in the 62nd minute. However, Gnabry rescued the three points as he netted Bayern’s third of the contest on 71 minutes.

Borussia Dortmund suffered a setback to their good start to the season as they lost 2-1 at SC Freiburg.
Freiburg were in front thanks to goals from Vincenzo Grifo and Roland Sallai in both halves. Yanik Keitel scored an own goal on 59 minutes but it would only prove to be a consolation for Marco Rose’s side.

VfL Wolfsburg are the only team in the division with a perfect record this season thanks to their 2-1 victory at Hertha Berlin on Saturday. Dodi Lukebakio converted a penalty at the turn of the hour to give Hertha the advantage but Wolfsburg turned things around thanks to goals from Ridle Baku and Lukas Nmecha.

Dominik Szoboslai’s hugged the headlines for all the right reasons on Friday night as his brace helped RasenBallsport Leipzig to a 4-0 win over VfB Stuttgart.

Emil Forsberg and Andre Silva also made goalscoring contributions for _Die Roten Bullen_ who amassed maximum points for the first time this term.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen comprehensively swept aside Borussia Mönchengladbach with a 4-0 thrashing at the BayArena.
An own goal from Yannick Sommer broke the deadlock on three minutes, Patrick Schick made doubled the scores five minutes later as second half goals Moussa Diaby and Nadiem Amiri sealed the win.

1899 Hoffenheim and Union Berlin played out a two-all draw in the first of Sunday’s two games.
Niko Giebelmann put Union ahead inside 10 minutes but Kevin Akpoguma equalised four minutes later. Jacob Brunn Larsen’s goal gave Hoffenheim the lead for the first time in the contest at the half hour but Taiwo Awoniyi brought the visitors back on level terms, and ensured they returned to Berlin with a point, with a goal two minutes after the break.

Goals from Gerrit Holtmann and Sebastian Polter helped VfL Bochum defeat FSV Mainz 05 2-nil.
Eintracht Frankfurt were held to a goalless draw by FC Augsburg as Greuther Fürth and Arminia Bielefeld were inseparable, settling for a 1-1 draw.
