Bundesliga Wrap, Matchday 26 – Bayern miss chance to go 12 points clear

By Sammy Wejinya

Bayern Munich had their lead at the top of the 2021-22 German Bundesliga standings trimmed to seven points after playing out a 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim. Robert Lewandowski cancelled out Christoph Baumgartner’s goal as the Bavarians hit the 60-point mark while Hoffenheim dropped to sixth with 44 points.

Second-placed Borussia Dortmund defeated 15th placed Arminia Bielefeld by a lone goal. Marius Wolf’s 21st minute goal was enough to seal maximum points for Dortmund who now have 53 points and they could cut Bayern’s lead to four points as they have a game in hand. Third-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen slipped to a 0-1 loss to FC Köln at BayArena.

Kingsley Schindler’s goal seven minutes after the hour-mark was enough to lift Köln to seventh on the log with a 39-point total while Leverkusen have totalled six points more with 45. RasenBallsport Leipzig have risen into the top four with their 6-1 demolishing of bottom club, Greuther Fürth.
