Cristiano Ronaldo shoots Juventus to Serie A title

Cristiano Ronaldo nailed his 31st goal of the season to help Juventus secure the Serie A title on Sunday night (July 26), as Juve beat Sampdoria 2-0 in Turin. It was Juventus’ ninth straight title win.

Juventus needed victory in one of three remaining games to seal the title after a poor run since the restart. Maurizio Sarri’s team had won only one of the previous five games. Now, with Inter Milan four points behind, his team has an unassailable seven-point cushion.

The “Old Lady” had to wait until 7 minutes into added time in the first half to find his goal just before the break.

It was a well-worked free-kick routine by Juventus, as Ronaldo left the set-piece for Miralem Pjanic, with Federico Bernardeschi alongside him while Ronaldo drifted to the left of the penalty area.

Pjanic played it out wide to Ronaldo whose low drive beat the unsuspecting Emil Audero in goal for Sampdoria.

Federico Bernardeschi added the second goal for Juventus after a Ronaldo shot was parried by Audero.
