Arsenal defender David Luiz has agreed a new deal with the club.
The Brazilian, who joined the Gunners from Chelsea last summer, has agreed a new one-year deal, according to the club. Defenders Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares will also join the club permanently at the end of their loan deals from Brazilian club Flamengo and Southampton, respectively.
It is expected that Mari will complete his formal move from Flamengo on a long-term deal when the transfer window opens in July while Soares will also team up permanently with the North London club on a long-term deal from Southampton.
Technical director Edu spoke about the developments via the club’s official website.
“I am really happy that we will have these players in our squad for the future. They have been part of the long-term technical plan Mikel and I have developed. They bring the right balance to our squad,” he said.
“David is a really important player for us. He has played most of our matches this season and has been important for the team. His passing, his communication with the team on and off the pitch. He helps everyone.
