Technical manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma, believes his side’s route to success this season is by improving on their results on the road.
The Pride of Rivers are two points behind league leaders, Akwa United and have been perfect at home in the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium this season. However, the Port Harcourt club have been poor in heir travels this season which has continued to cast doubts on their ability to challenge for the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
Eguma’s team have been able to pick maximum points once in their 10 away games this campaign. Scoring less goals and shipping more has also been a problem for United. They have scored just six goals and conceded on 17 occasions and Eguma has insisted they must get positive results both home and away in order to reach set targets.
“We know we have to keep winning home and away to enable us get to the top,” Eguma told SPNAfricaNews.
“It is not over now and I believe that we can turn things around if only we can correct our mistakes especially in away games and ensure we start getting good results home and away. We will get better.”
Eguma his charges will need to back those words with actions when fourth placed Rivers United travel to face fifth placed Rangers International in Enugu.
