Eguma pleased with Rivers United’s progress

Technical manager of Rivers United FC, Stanley Eguma is pleased with the progress made by his side as they prepare for the start of the new football season in Nigeria.
United are shaping up for the start of domestic football after Nigeria’s government lifted the ban on contact sports on October 15 following the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
United are expected to be on duty in domestic and continental competition and Eguma believes the ‘Pride of Rivers’ have made important inroads in their quest to give their fans creditable representation.
“We have signed several new players but the core of the team remains,” Eguma told SPNAfricaNews.
“Training commenced a few weeks ago and the new boys have taken to our system quite well.
“There were issues with fitness as the boys had not trained together as a unit for a long time because of the situation with the corona virus but all in all, I am happy with how well we have made progress,” he added.
Rivers United will compete in the Governor Wike pre-season tournament in Port Harcourt from November 6.
Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the pre-season tournament, Bashir Badawiy says some of the biggest clubs in Nigeria will converge in
Abia Warrior, Akwa United, Lobi Stars, Kwara United, Nasarawa United,
Heartland and MFM FC are some of the clubs already confirmed to part in the tournament.
Other clubs billed to take part in the tournament are Plateau United, Nigeria will take part in the tournament.Tornadoes, Bendel Insurance, Bayelsa United and Vandrezzer will also compete in the tournament.
