Sunshine Queens head coach, Matthew Wemimo has promised her side best performance in the ongoing 2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season against visiting well-oiled side, Edo Queens.
The Owena Mermaids will play host to the Benin City landladies in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 4 clash at the Akure Township Stadium.
Prior to the mid-week matchday 4 matchup, the hosts lost narrowly 0-1 to Delta Queens in Asaba while the visitors shared the spoils one goal apiece with multiple champions, Rivers Angels in Benin City.
Wemimo said her side have overcome their initial shaky start to the league campaign that saw them with poorly one win and two losses to start firing on all fronts.
“We are going to give our very best performance so far in the league against visitors, Edo Queens on Wednesday.
“Edo Queens are the most motivated side at the moment coupled with the fact that they equally have one of the finest coaches in the person of Rolandson Odey.
“Coach Odey was my coach, I played under him when I was there, he is a very good coach.
“Everyone should expect good and great performance on both sides but by the grace of God we will outwit them for the three points at stake.
“We have our game plans well worked out though we have played three matches and were able win one at home while we lost two on the road.
“We were not really ready and prepared when the league commenced but now we have trained quite well and the players are in perfect shape.
“I believe henceforth we are going to perform very well and move fast to reclaim some of the lost points aimed at stamping our presence on the league log,” said the senior national women team (Super Falcons) coach.
The Akure side are 10th on the 14-team top-flight log on three points six behind league leaders, Bayelsa Queens.
