Bayern Munich manager, Hans-Dieter Flick has spoken about Spain’s astonishing 6-0 defeat of Germany in Tuesday’s international friendly in Seville. Ferran Torres netted a hattrick with Alvaro Morata, Rodri and Mikel Oyarzabal also made goal-scoring contributions as Germany suffered their heaviest ever defeat in a competitive game.
Flick made the comments at a press conference on Friday (November 20) to discuss Saturday’s (November 21) clash with Werder Bremen.
“I saw the game and was disappointed with the way we played,” Flick said at his press conference on Friday. “But big losses like that happen in football. There are lessons to be learned from it, but that is not my job.”
Flick then discussed the speculations linking him as a possible successor to Joachim Löw as Germany’s national team manager.
“I’ve always said that I live in the here and now. That’s why things like this are too far away to think about.”
The trainer concluded by previewing Saturday’s Bundesliga clash between Bayern and Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena with team news on the front burner.
“Bremen hardly had any players away on international duty and therefore spent two weeks preparing for the game. The team will make life difficult for us.
“They are compact and switch the play quickly. We expect more of the same tomorrow.
“Things are a bit tight in midfield. (Joshua) Kimmich and (Corentin) Tolisso are out tomorrow. I have a few thoughts (on who will play), but I won’t reveal anything now”
“Today (Friday) we trained with the entire team for the first time. Lewandowksi and Alaba came back yesterday and they are ready. Marc Roca is definitely in the squad.
“When Thomas Müller is in the team, it’s difficult to hear the others. So we got no problems. We also have others like (Manuel) Neuer and (David) Alaba. In Dortmund, we did well without Kimmich. The team has shown quality & mentality.”
Bayern currently leads the Bundesliga standings with 18 points from seven matches.
