Outgoing Bayern Munich head coach, Hans-Dieter Flick has revealed he has a verbal agreement with the DFB to take charge of the German National Team at the end of the season.

Flick, who has been in the dugout at Allianz Arena since November 2019 will leave his role at the end of the current campaign.

The German already has an agreement to replace Joachim Löw as the new coach of his country when he leaves after the European Championships which runs from June to July, 2021.

Confirming the development, Flick said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Bayern’s Bundesliga game against Augsburg on Saturday that it is only a matter of time before the announcement.

“Yes, I spoke to the DFB. Everyone knows how I feel about the national team.

“It’s about little things, then we can announce it,” he said.

Reports suggests that the 56-year-old snubbed interest from Barcelona and Tottenham to sign a contract until 2024 which will see him earn a salary of over €5m per year.

Flick was hugely successful with Bayern after taking over from Niko Kovac, which included a treble-winning 2019-20 season as his side scooped the Bundesliga title, DFB Pokal and the UEFA Champions League.

Although, he was able to defend the Bundesliga, he was not able to defend the DFB Pokal and the Champions League title, losing to Holstein Kiel and Paris-Saint Germain respectively.

A reported fallout with Sporting Director, Hasan Salihamidžić also allegedly played a role in his exit.

Flick, who will be replaced by RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann, will be on the touchline for his final game when Bayern play host to FC Augsburg on Saturday in the final matchday of the 2020-21 Bundesliga campaign.
