Manchester City supporter, Noel Gallagher insists that it will be the correct decision to hand the Premier League title to Liverpool even with nine round of matches remaining to conclude the 2019/20 Premier League season.
Gallagher reasons that ‘they’ve won it anyway’ and will have no hard feelings if the trophy is handed over to the Reds despite being a lifelong supporter of the reigning champions, Manchester City.
Liverpool are currently 25 points clear at the top of the table and two wins away from confirmation (one, if they beat City at the Etihad Stadium) – but have to wait longer to lift it with the league suspended by coronavirus.
“They’ve won it anyway. They should just give it to them,” Gallagher told talkSPORT.
“I think they should just start planning for next season now because this is going to go on. Football is all about the fans and I don’t agree with playing games behind closed doors.
“I don’t care if there’s six games on a day, although of course it will make lockdown a bit better.
“But the games behind closed doors aren’t even that good to watch and people will turn up.
“All my mates who are City fans have said ‘if they start playing games behind closed doors, we’re going’. It could cause more trouble than it’s worth,” he concluded.
