France international forward, Olivier Giroud has slammed his countryman, Karim Benzema following the jibes aimed at him by the Real Madrid man.
Benzema labelled Giroud a “go-kart” while comparing himself to “Formula 1” and as expected, the latter has reacted with a well-timed response.
Giroud was quizzed about Benzema’s seemingly demeaning statement and the Chelsea replied in sarcastic fashion.
“What am I, a go-kart? A world champion go-kart,” Giroud told Befoot.
Benzema had inferred, a few days ago, that his earlier statements were blown out of proportion as he stated that his complimentary remarks about Giroud were not mentioned.
“Some people only took away things about Giroud and Formula 1 [from the live broadcast], but they didn’t remark what I said about what he’d brought to the French national team,” Benzema said.
“They only focused on that, on what I said about Formula 1 and go-karting, but it’s what I think and it’s the truth.
“Look, if I was asked about R9 [Ronaldo Nazario], then he would be the Formula 1 and I would be the go-kart. Short and simple.”
Benzema has not played for the France the national team following the blackmail scandal involving him and Mathieu Valbuena.
In Benzema’s absence, France have won the World Cup in 2018 with Giroud playing as Les Blues’ main striker.
