Kennedy Boboye anticipating tough test against Abia Warriors

Head coach of Akwa United Kennedy Boboye has stated that he expects a difficult test when Abia Warriors come to town in Matchday three of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Akwa United are winless in their first two games of the season, playing out a goalless draw against Dakkada FC and losing to Rangers in their second match and just like them, Abia Warriors are also winless in their two matches. They’ve fallen to back-to-back 1-0 losses to Enyimba and Rivers United. As a result, they find themselves rooted at the bottom of the log with no points picked up this season.
However, Boboye has made it clear that he expects today’s opposition to give their all but also insists that his players are ready to fend off Imama Amakapabo’s charges.
“We want to win, we don’t want anything short of having the three points,” he said.
“I expect them to come all out. They are not a team that will relax.
“It’s going to be unfortunate if we don’t have anything in this game. We’re ready and we want to give a good account of ourselves and make sure we score goals and get the three points.”
Abia Warriors have not scored a single goal this season. Akwa United also find themselves in a similar situation as they have not managed to find the back of the net.
Although, the gaffer of the ‘Promise Keepers’ expects his side to deliver the goods soon. “It’s normal, we’ve been wasteful in front of goal, we are not taking our chances,” he added.
“It’s not as if we don’t create chances, we do create but we’ve not been able to convert it. I think today is going to be a turning point.
Boboye also wants his side to get a positive result from this tie, use it to kick start their season and also begin a run of getting good results.
“We just need to start with one game. I think this game will be a turning point for us.”
Akwa United will play host to Abia Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to kick-start matchday three in the NPFL today (Saturday 6th January, 2021). Kickoff time is 4pm.
