Marseille city centre off-limits for PSG fans

Paris Saint-Germain take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in Lisbon, Portugal on Sunday (August 23) but far away from the action, French Police are struggling to avert fan trouble. In the coastal city of Marseille, police have banned PSG fans from wearing team shirts in the city centre to avoid violence.

There has already been tension after altercations were experienced during the semi-finals between PSG and RB Leipzig when a Leipzig fan was arrested for attacking a PSG fan..

Some Marseille fans used firecrackers and sang anti-PSG songs and Bouches-du-Rhône police said on Twitter :

“The sole purpose of this decree was to protect Parisian supporters, and in no way intended to restrict freedom of movement,” it said on Twitter.
