Torino have appointed Davide Nicola as the club’s new head coach.
This follows the sacking of Marco Giampaolo following a string of poor results.
Torino are currently involved in a relagation battle in Serie A and have amassed 13 points from 18 games.
They picked up a 0-0 draw against a 10-man Spezia on Saturday.
Torino had announced the sacking of Giampaolo on Monday while the ratification of Nicola’s appointment was made ratified via an official statement.
“Torino Football Club is glad to announce that Davide Nicola has been appointed the new head coach,” a new official statements published on Tuesday morning reads.
“Davide Nicola was born in Luserna San Giovanni, near Torino, on March 5, 1973. As a player he wore the Torino kit in the 2005/2006 season, helping the granata reach serie A with his goal against Mantova in overtime of the playoff final. In 2010 he began his coaching career. Unforgettable is the challenge he accomplished with Crotone, with 20 points obtained in the last 9 matches, helping the club remain in serie A. Another big accomplishment was made last season, helping Genoa avoid relegation. “President Urbano Cairo welcomes back Nicola and wishes him and his staff good luck, Sempre Forza Toro!” Nicola had played for Torino in the 2005-06 campaign.
