Cyril Olisema’s effort just before the hour handed Enyimba a 1-0 victory over Rivers United in Aba last Sunday. That means the playoff tie is finely balanced ahead of the second leg in Port Harcourt on February 21.
“Winning 1-0 in Aba was good for us especially as we had to play for some parts of the second leg with ten men (after Tosin Omoyele was dismissed),” Osho told SPNAfricaNews. “We were leading at the time and it was important we protected that lead.
“Not conceding in Aba was a plus for us. The boys showed resilience and still pushed forward to try to get more goals.
“It was not a bad result bearing in mind the standard of the Rivers United team.”
Enyimba go into the second leg at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium as slight favourites. Rivers United must score on Sunday or kiss the competition goodbye.
Osho however noted that their opponents have the quality to turn things around on Sunday.
“They have a formidable team,” Osho added. “I believe strongly that after this two legged affair, both teams will gain a lot for the rest of their Nigeria Professional Football League campaigns.
“They will be coming all out on Sunday and we know we have to work so hard to qualify.”
