Oshoala makes Primera Iberdola “dream” team as Barca women’s training resumes

Nigerian international and Barcelona women’s team striker, Asisat Oshoala has been promoted by fans to the Spanish women’s premier league, or Primera Iberdola, “Team of the Season” for 2019/20.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool women’s teams goal poacher played a prominent role for Barcelona Femini as the Catalans claimed the league title for the first time in five years.

Barcelona were declared champions by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after the season was finally abandoned due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The abandonment saw the Catalans emerge as winners of the 2019/20 top-flight season after 20 games with 59 points – a feat they achieved without losing a game and the fifth team to achieve such a feat.

The four-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year also won the Copa Catalunya and Super Women’s Cup with Barcelona during the season.

Other teammates nominated by fans for the prestigious Team of the Season include Sandra Panos, Mapi Leon, Marian Torrejon, Patri Guijaro, Jenni Hermoso and Graham Hansen.

The 25-year-old goal queen scored 25 goals and provided an assist in 19 appearances for Barcelona in the 2019/20 Spanish season.

Oshoala posted on social media on Tuesday (June 9) that she was back at her “happy place” after returning to the team training grounds Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper.
