Former Nigerian assistant coach, Fatai Amoo has said he has already foreseen glorious days ahead for the Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen at his new Serie A side, Napoli.
Osimhen was announced as a Napoli player on Friday, July 31 after drawn-out negotiations between the player, the Serie A club and Lille of France.
The five-year contract deal with the Serie A side was reported to be worth around €80 million, making the Super Eagles goal poacher the most expensive African player in history.
Amoo said Osimhen has abundant qualities that will see him stand out at Napoli and which with time will help his compatriots find succour in the club as well as other European sides.
“I know him as (a) highly dedicated, determined and committed player and these are ingredients that will help him excel at his new side, Napoli.
“I say this because I have worked together with him closely and except the unforeseen happens he will push to the highest height to stamp his authority.
“Right now he is the brightest hope and opportunity to see more of his compatriots rise to limelight in their careers.
“Our prayers for him at this moment are for him to excel at his new place as it will go a long way to open more doors for other up and coming players.
“His success at Napoli will be huge blessings to Nigerian football and to everyone in the football sector.
“The gains may not be individual material gains but the opportunity it will throw up around the country’s football.
“We wish him well at Napoli and pray he does wonders, too. The expectations are quite high, we will continue to pray for him to live up to the expectations especially the confidence the club reposed in him to help them climb to the highest height,” said the former 3SC and Sunshine Stars coach.
Osimhen is expected to re-enact the performances at Lille which attracted Napoli, as well as other top European sides when the 2020/2021 Serie A season kicks-off later in the year.
