Robo unlucky in NWFL Premiership Super 6 draw vs Rivers, says Osahon

FC Robo Queens head coach, Emmanuel Osahon has said his side were damn unlucky in the 1-1 draw against reigning champions, Rivers Angels at the commencement of the 2021 NWFL Premiership Super 6 on Monday at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

The Lagos landladies’ markswoman and Nigerian international, Gift Monday even scores for her side in the 87th minute after former Abia Angels’ goal poacher, Vivian Ikechukwu gave the Port Harcourt side the lead in the 47th minute.

The NWFL Premiership Super 6 is to decide the 2020/21 NWFL league champions among the six combatants as well as the WAFU B qualifiers for the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League.

The six teams namely Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, Rivers Angels, Edo Queens, FC Robo Queens and Sunshine Queens emerged top respectively after intensive 13-week regular season campaign.

Osahon said his side have more interesting results in the offing to dish out in the one-week top football showpiece.

“It was an interesting and entertaining match but we lost many chances in the encounter. I would say we were unlucky, our talisman – Gift Monday though late eventually delivered the vital goal.

“For me the 1-1 draw is a win because we faced an entirely different team from the one we defeated few weeks back in Lagos.

“A team that has completely overhauled itself as well as fortified themselves quite well for the Super 6.

“On our side we will continue to improvise to ensure we challenge for the top prize,” said Osahon to SPNAfricaNews.

Osahon, nicknamed the ‘Oracle’ said his side will acquit themselves creditably against regular season leaders, Bayelsa Queens in NWFL Premiership Super 6 matchday 2 on Tuesday.

“It will be another interesting match but this time quite crucial towards inching close to the top prize.

“I’m confident that the girls will deliver the goods at the appropriate time,” said Osahon.

The Lagos side are on one point after matchday 1 clash two behind Super 6 leaders, Delta Queens.

The Asaba side defeated neighbours, Edo Queens 2-1 in the opening match while Bayelsa Queens shared the spoils one goal apiece with Sunshine Queens.
