At the top of the table, Bayern Munich were held to a 1-1 draw by TSG Hoffenheim despite dominating the first half. However, Hoffenheim fought back in the second half, with Andrej Kramaric’s stunning equaliser ensuring that they left the Allianz Arena with a point.
They will be looking to increase the gap between them and second-placed Borussia as they face 1. FSV Mainz.
Meanwhile, Schalke 04 secured a crucial win in their match against Hertha Berlin, further intensifying the relegation battle.
Schalke have had a tough season, but they showed grit and determination to secure a 2-1 win, with Suat Serdar’s stunning free-kick proving to be the difference.
The race for top-four is also in its peak with RB Leipzig’s recent form putting them back in contention of the coveted spot.
Schalke will be seeking to utilize their Sunday trip to SC Freiburg to possibly move up the table.
They will, however, need an extra strategy to secure a win in Black Forest considering only Dortmund and Bayern have managed a win from the venue this season.
At just one point away Freiburg will, on the other hand, be dreaming of their maiden qualification for the UEFA Champions League if they utilize their home advantage and maintain momentum through the remaining matches.
At third place, Union Berlin are also in the mix for the top-four pursuit as they head to Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday seeking their first win in three encounters.
Leipzig will on the other hand clash with Bayer 04 Leverkusen who are in great form having won five of their last seven matches drawing the other two.
The bottom of the table is also a house of anarchy with teams clutching to straws in a bid to avoid drowning to relegation
Stuttgart are two points away from Hertha Berlin, at the bottom. The Sebastian Hoeneß side already trounced VfL Bochum 3-2 besides securing a draw with Dortmund.
This impressive history will be put to test as they face a winless FC Augsburg, in their past five matches. The Bavarians are 5 points above Stuttgart and could be dragged into the basement battle.
Finally, VfL Wolfsburg are on the run for a third league win in their past 12 matches are hoping to resuscitate their dimming star as they face Bochum who are 3 points above the play-off place.
Bochum however have the league’s worst goal difference, -30. The weekend will also see Hoffeinhein face off with 1.FC Koln with Hoffeinheim in a favorable spot to secure all the three points.
All focus this weekend is however in the Bundesliga 2 considering FC St. Pauli’s exceptional run has captured the attention of fans across Europe.
Under coach Fabian Hürzeler, the team has won 10 of their last 11 matches, putting them in contention for promotion to the top-flight. They’ll face city rivals Hamburger SV in a huge derby match this Friday, with the winner taking a major step towards securing a promotion spot.
Meanwhile, table leaders SV Darmstadt 98 are out to extend their four-point advantage at the summit at home to Karlsrher SC. This is as second-placed 1.FC Heidenheim 1846 clash with Holstein-Kiel at eight-place.
Weekend fixtures will be an opportunity to extend the race for the title, the battle for the top four, and the fight to avoid relegation as all these spots are still up for grabs.
