“The move, in line with VFC’s strategic business plan to further position the club as a global football brand, is the result of research into the impact of the club’s customer engagement, communication and media deployment strategy, which showed that more than 60% of VFC Followers are based in Lagos,” the club said in an official statement.
“Moving to Lagos presents an opportunity for these fans and followers and other football fans to experience football the special VFC way and become a part of the ever-expanding global VFC family – the most followed club on social media in Nigeria and the 37th most followed club in Africa. It also gives VFC the opportunity to showcase its unique football platform to the business community in Lagos – the Economic heartbeat of the country – for partnerships towards business and brand development benefits for everyone”
Vandrezzer FC was founded on September 11, 2019 and in just one year became the Nigerian club with the largest fan base on social media, despite playing in the second-tier NNL (the Nigerian National League) which is one step down from the Premier League or NPFL (Nigerian Professional Football League).
“VFC calls on fans and well-wishers from whatever part of the country and the global business and sporting communities, to keep on following our matches and other activities through VFC TV and our various media platforms, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for up-to-date information on this move and other initiatives the Club plans to roll out in 2021.”
“VFC expresses its appreciation to the Government and People of Akwa Ibom for the warm reception accorded us during the Club’s one year stay in the state and will always hold them dear to our hearts”
“To football fans in the Centre of Excellence…the Lions are here to stay!… redefining club football in Nigeria,” the statement read.
