Akwa United head coach, Kennedy Boboye has said his side are on a special mission to llorin to pick first away points at top-flights, Kwara United.
The Promise Keepers are guests of the Harmony Boys in Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 4 clash at the Kwara State Stadium in llorin.
Both top-flights experienced mixed fortune heading to the midweek matchup, while the guests enjoyed a 2-1 win against neighbours, Abia Warriors in Uyo, the hosts, Kwara United were turned back empty-handed 0-3 in Port Harcourt by Rivers United.
Boboye said the top-flight matchup offers his side a rare opportunity to settle score over subsisting superiority contest with the llorin-based outfit.
“Our victory over Abia Warriors is a big motivation for us and it’s coming at the right time. We are determined to build on that win as we continue to push for more victories.
“The celebration of that victory ended immediately after the match as our concentration and focus shifted straight to Wednesday’s match against Kwara United.
“Last season, Kwara United came to Uyo to pick all three points at stake in the encounter.
“Due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic we did not have the opportunity of playing the return fixture, that is why this game is very important and trust me, we are on a special mission to llorin.
“It’s interesting to see that teams are picking vital points away from home and we do not want to miss out on it.
“Hopefully, we will pick all three points at stake and record our first away win this season in llorin on Wednesday,” said the former Plateau United tactician.
Akwa United are 11th on the 20-team top-flight log on four points five behind league leaders, Rivers United.
