Gonzalo Higuain is not about to make the switch from Italian club, Juventus to River Plater according to the Father of the Argentine superstar.
Higuain has been severally linked with a move to the 36-time Argentine champions but Jorge Higuain has now moved to pour cold water on the speculations.
Jorge reckons that “the European transfer market is too different from the Argentine one” which makes a potential switch not feasible at this time.
“It is not the time yet (for Higuain to return to Argentina),” Jorge Higuain told TNT Sports.
“He still has a one year contract with Juve and wants to respect it. I don’t even want to talk about it now because for the moment it is just a fantasy.
“The European transfer market is too different from the Argentine one and a footballer like my son cannot return to the River for the moment,” he said.
Gonzalo had revealed recently that he almost quit the sport in 2014 following the amount of criticism he received in the aftermath of Argentina’s World Cup final defeat to Germany.
The Juventus star was singled out by many Argentine’s as a scapegoat following the defeat to the Germans and Jorge took the time to address the situation.
“There are players who are highly criticized, I think some people are stupid. They spend the whole day attacking and creating memes.
“It is not known who they are, who attacks on the (social media) is so cowardly that he makes himself ridiculous. They are poor people who waste time,” he said.
Higuain is still in Argentina with her sick mother but is expected in Turin on Friday or Saturday to rejoin his Juventus teammates.
