Osun Babes striker, Abibat Agbaji has said she is satisfied with her performance in the team’s match against FC Robo Queens in Lagos on Wednesday (December 16), despite losing 3-1 in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership fixture.
The diminutive, energetic player is a recognised workaholic and scored the consolation goal for her side in the hotly-contested encounter. Agbaji said ruefully that despite the loss, the Osogbo side arrived at the National Stadium determined to contest the full three points at stake in the clash.
“Well, no hard feeling scoring for my side and losing the whole three points to the opponents, FC Robo Queens.
“That’s the irony of football – playing very well, yet you could not deliver the whole points to your side.
“I’m satisfied with my performance and the entire team, we gave the match our best but our best was not good enough to earn us at least a point.
“We came for the three points or worst case scenario we go home with a point.
“FC Robo Queens are good side, they played quite well and deserved their hard fought victory.
“We will take the lesson of today’s (Wednesday) defeat into the next matches and ensure we make up for the loss.
“The league is still young we will fight hard to contest for the available laurels as well as the maiden juicy CAF Women’s Champions League coming up next year,” said Agbaji.
The loss to FC Robo Queens dropped Osun Babes’ position to eighth in the 14-team women’s top-flight, with three points on the two-week-old 2020-2021 league table.
Osun Babes will play host to top-flight returnees, Pelican Stars in their NWFL Premiership matchday 3 clash at the Osogbo Township Stadium next Wednesday (December 23).
