Atletico Madrid will sell Trippier “for £20 million”

Spanish giants have sensationally revealed that right back, Kieran Trippier is available – for £20 million.

The 29-year-old Trippier joined Atleti only last summer after he was declared surplus to requirements by former Tottenham Hotspurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino despite having a brilliant 2018 FIFA World Cup with England as the Three Lions reached the semi-finals.
Trippier has also been brilliant with Atleti in Spain and his stellar performances has attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs.

It is believed, according to the UK’s Daily Mail, that several Premier League clubs are interested in bringing Trippier back to England with some preparing to table offers for him this summer.

The Sun reports that Trippier has been on the lookout for new homes in the north west of England and there is talk that his former club, Burnley, are interested in bringing him back to Turf Moor. Trippier broke through at Burnley between 2011 and 2015, playing 185 times for the Clarets, scoring six goals and providing 37 assists with his phenomenal delivery from out wide.

However, the £20 million price tag set by Atletico could prove a stumbling block, with Burnley unwilling to meet the hefty fee for their former star. Trippier has proved in Spain that he could do a great job for a host of Premier League clubs and consistent game time back with an English home team could also provide the catalyst needed for a return to the England squad.

The 29-year-old shone in the 2018 World Cup for Gareth Southgate’s side, sending the country into bedlam when he scored the opener in the semi-final defeat to Croatia. He has since fallen down the pecking order, with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of him in the starting eleven.
