German giants Bayern Munich will, on Monday, have players return to training for the first time since the Coronavirus-induced suspension of the Bundesliga.
The 2019/20 German topflight league has been on the forced break since March 13.
The decision by the league leaders is in line with a previous advice by the German Football League (DFL) that clubs halt training until Sunday, 5 April.
“The FC Bayern Munich first team will return to training at Säbener Straße in small groups from Monday, 6 April.
“This will be done in coordination with government policy and the relevant authorities. It goes without saying that all hygiene regulations will be strictly observed,” said a club statement.
The Bayern release also noted that “training will take place with no members of the public present.”
“In order to further slow the spread of the coronavirus, FC Bayern asks fans to continue to follow the instructions of the authorities and therefore please do not come to the FC Bayern training ground.”
The suspension of the Bundesliga due to the coronavirus pandemic was extended on March 31 to at least 30 April following a DFL consultation with representatives of the 36 first and second division clubs at an extraordinary general meeting by video conference.
