Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC head coach, Tony Bolus said he has taken full responsibility for the side’s shocking defeat to struggling side, Heartland.
The Olukoya Boys were stunned 1-2 by the Naze Millionaires in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 9 clash at the ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium in Lagos.
Bolus said the defeat came to his side as a rude shock despite the fact that the visitors, Heartland were led by the former coach of the Church team, Fidelis llechukwu.
“We never planned for the defeat, I thought we had everything well covered for a resounding victory notwithstanding the fact that we are facing our former coach who knows the team inside out.
“It could only have been a bad day for us and I take all the responsibilities for the defeat and whatever else that happened in the team.
“I know my team too well to make any meaning from the conspiracy theories being bandied about over the loss.
“If the team do not function well, I am the coach and I should adjust and make necessary amendment to get the desired result.
“In this team I take the decisions so there is no way coach llechukwu though a former handler of the side could have influenced the performance of my team.
“We will pick the pieces of the hurtful defeat to plan ahead for the remaining matches on the league calendar.
“Right now the onus is on us to work extremely hard to quickly reclaim the forfeited points elsewhere,” said the former Giwa FC and Enugu Rangers coach.
The Lagos side are 13th on the 20-team top-flight log on 10 points 11 behind league leaders, Enyimba.
