Nigeria’s U20 men’s team (Flying Eagles) head coach, Ladan Bosso has blamed his wards wastefulness in front of goal for the sour defeat to Ghana’s Black Satellites in their last Group B game of the 2021 U20 AFCON qualifiers in Porto Novo, Benin Republic on Wednesday.
A superb free-kick close to the Flying Eagles’ box with eight minutes remaining in the game secured a 1-0 win for Ghana at the turf of Stade Charles de Gaulles.
The Flying Eagles will now hope the West African neighbours, Ghana secure a big win against Ivory Coast to stand a chance of advancing into the semifinals of the WAFU B Zonal qualifiers.
Bosso said his side could have wrapped up the game with a plum in the early part of the clash if they had been precise at the vital area of their opponents.
“What we played against Ghana was better than what we played in the first match against Ivory Coast but unfortunately this time around we were very wasteful.
“We had chances that would have finished this game since the first half but we could not do that. We were very wasteful and that was what cost us this match.
“They had only one chance and they got it, we had three free kicks of our own but did not do anything with it,” said the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Adamawa United tactician.
The WAFU B Zonal tournament is the qualifiers for next year’s U20 AFCON in Mauritania.
