Dreamstar have turned the corner in NWFL, says Tajudeen

Dreamstar Ladies coach, Sheriff Tajudeen has said his side have turned the corner following their draw against multiple champions, Rivers Angels.

The Pride of Lagos were forced to a 1-1 draw by the Jewel of Rivers in Thursday’s (March 11) Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) matchday 9 clash at Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Tajudeen said the score draw felt like defeat in their minds given the superlative performance put up by his wards.

“Considering how the game went you know it feels like defeat from inside even though it was a draw.

“It actually feels like defeat, we scored a goal in the first half and very late on they had an equaliser which I thought the corner kick that led to the goal should not have been.

“I won’t say the turnaround is a work of one week it has been a work that has been going on behind the scene.

“On match days people come to see the displays and spectacles but a lot of hard work goes in every week before the match days.

“Of course, we played FC Robo and lost five zero away but the girls have worked so hard, we have put in grit.

“Although we had a change in formation as well and that helped us but all in all it is not a work of one week that caused the turnaround, it is the implementation of all the things we have been working on in the past three weeks that.

“Of course, it is a turnaround, we have turned the corner, we are not going to rest on our laurels to say because we had a draw against a top side then we have automatically turned the corner but we have started to turn the corner, I think we are heading to that direction,” said Tajudeen.

The London-based consulting tactician said his side will certainly pull themselves away from the base of the log in no distant time.

“Like I have promised to the true and genuine fans of Dreamstar come the end of the season we will not be where we are at the moment.

“In fact, come the start of the second stanza we will not be there at the bottom. I think today we have turned the corner, it has been seven defeats on the bounce and today a draw against a top side that expected we were going to be rolled over.

“I think we have turned the corner but we still need to be humble and grounded so that we keep pushing the hard work we have been doing in the background, we will continue to work hard so that we will keep having positive results,” said the Dreamstar Ladies gaffer.

The Lagos side are still rooted at the bottom of the 14-team top-flight log on four points, 18 behind league leader, Bayelsa Queens.
