Eleven Dynamo Kyiv players test positive for COVID-19

Ukrianian club Dynamo Kyiv come into Wednesday’s Champions League match against Barcelona with an extremely depleted squad.
No fewer than 11 players of the Ukrainian club will miss the game as result, directly or indirectly, of the coronavirus.

Dynamo Kyiv confirmed that Georgiy Tsitaishvili, Denys Garmash, Mikkel Duelund, Alexander Karavaev, Tudor Baluta and Mykola Shaparenko, as well as Andriy Shevchenko’s assistant, Emil Karas, have tested positive in the PCR tests carried out for COVID-19 in the last few hours. Goalkeeper duo Georgiy Bushchan and Denys Boyko were already in isolation after testing positive.

Dynamo fielded 18-year-old goalkeeper, Ruslan Neshcheret in their Russian Premier League game against Dnipro on Saturday due to the absence of Bushchan and Boyko. Mircea Lucescu’s team will thus arrive in Barcelona with a depleted squad and Lionel Messi and friends will be licking their lips in anticipation ahead of Wednesday’s Group G clash at Camp Nou.
