Monday Gift excited by hat-trick

FC Robo Queens’ hat-trick heroine, Monday Gift has admitted that scoring three goals against hard-fighting side, Osun Babes had not even crossed her mind at the start of the clash.

The Lagos side defeated their counterparts from Osogbo 3-1 in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership matchday 2 clash at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

The lanky goal poacher scored the whole three goals in space of fifteen minutes before workaholic and unarguably the best player on the pitch, Osun Babes’ forward, Abibat Agbaji scored the consolation for her side.

Gift poured encomium on their opponents but insisted that the better side won the hotly contested NWFL Premiership matchup.

“I feel great, I’m really excited scoring a hat-trick as well as handing my side another three points on matchday.

“No, I did not foresee myself scoring three goals at the start of the match, I only know that I will score but three goals never crossed my mind.

“Osun Babes truly came all out at us to score but we were able to quickly counter their match plan and style so give it to us we are the better side and we won.

“No doubt about it Osun Babes are good side, they really gave us a tough fight aimed at repeating the feat they achieved in Uyo against Ibom Angels, we thank God we triumphed at the end of the day,” said Super Falcons’ goal queen.

Gift assured that her side will not rest on their oars rather redouble their efforts to ensure more sweet victories in future fixtures.

“No, we will not relent in our performance over the two victories, we will work harder and demonstrate more determinations in our next matches.

“I’m confident the sky will be our stepping stone if we hold tightly to our work rate and performance.

“Every player, every team wants to represent Nigeria at the maiden CAF Women Champions League, I think FC Robo Queens will not be excluded,” said the Falconets’ deft finisher.

FC Robo Queens have maintained 100% record in the two-week old NWFL Premiership with maximum of six points from two matches. The Lagos landladies will be the guests of former champions, Bayelsa Queens in next Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 3 clash in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
