Giggs arrested for alleged assault of girlfriend

Former Manchester United star, Ryan Giggs has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault following an alleged bust-up with his girlfriend Kate Greville.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 10.05pm on Sunday to reports of a disturbance.
“A woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries but did not require any treatment.  “A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 47 assault and section 39 common assault.”

Giggs who is currently the national team manager of Wales has now had a planned press conference by the Welsh.

The hugely-decorated Giggs was questioned and then bailed, according to SunSport, pending inquiries by police, on suspicion of actual bodily harm and assault following an alleged bust-up with his girlfriend Kate Greville.

Giggs has since denied the allegations made against him.
Meanwhile, a statement has been released on behalf of Giggs stating that he is cooperating with the Police in their ongoing investigations.
“He is cooperating with the police and will continue to assist them with their ongoing investigation,” read the statement.
The 13-time Premier League winner was due to announce his squad for Wales’ upcoming games against the USA, Ireland and Finland.
The conference was planned to be over Zoom due to coronavirus restrictions.
The Welsh FA said: “The squad announcement scheduled will no longer take place and has been postponed.”
It is not clear at this stage if Giggs will continue in his duties as boss.
Welsh FA chiefs were locked in talks on Monday night over how to deal with Giggs’ alleged conduct.
Wales are due to play the USA in a friendly in Swansea on Thursday evening.
They then have two Nations League matches, both in Cardiff, against Ireland and Finland.
The Dragons currently top their group, with three wins and a draw from their opening four games.
Two-time Champions League winner Giggs became Wales manager in January 2018 on a four-year contract.
