Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola could only be pleased as his charges defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 to take a giant step towards the Premier League title on Saturday (May 1).
Gabriel Jesus and Ferran Torres netted second-half efforts as City moved to within three points of their third Premier League title in four seasons.
“It is always tough to get going after (matches in the) Champions League but the guys who did not play in Paris (against PSG in midweek) did their talking on the pitch,” Guardiola said during post-match comments. “First half, we didn’t get going but it was better in the second half and the quality of the players made the difference.
“In these kinds of matches, you need patience but we showed patience and we showed that.”
Guardiola then discussed the impact of City’s record goal scorer, Aguero who will be leaving the club at the end of the current season.
“What a goal, what an action, what a Man! He is going to enjoy the last games,” Guardiola added. “He showed that he has always been what he is. I am in love with him as a person. He is an incredible guy.”
The City manager concluded by admitting that the Citizens have one hand on the title especially as they could be crowned champions as early as Sunday if Manchester United lost to Liverpool at Anfield.
“We have to start thinking about putting (the Champagne in) the freezer,” Guardiola said. “I will take a look (at the game between United and Liverpool.
“The Premier League is already (in the bag). We need one more victory and then we are going to try to give everything in the (game against PSG) to try to reach the final,”
