FC Bayern Munich President Herbert Hainer has assured that the COVID-19 pandemic has not badly hit the club’s financial reserves. German and European champions Bayern Munich have been impressive on the this season and Hainer has assured that the Bavarians are in rude health of it as well.
Hainer said a “solid economic base” has ensured that Bayern Munich has remained well financed.
“Thank God FC Bayern has done well economically in the past,” Hainer told SPORT1 Datenshutz. “We were influenced by Covid – and yet we will get through these difficult months relatively lightly, because we have a solid economic base. There’s is no need to worry about FC Bayern financially.”
Hainer took the time to reflect on the club’s performances on the pitch which culminated in a treble last season.
“I’m mostly impressed by the way we won the titles. The team played so attractively and successfully that everyone said: “FC Bayern are the best team in Europe and the world.” That is the mark of Hansi Flick.”
Flick currently has a contract until 2023 but Hainer says the club is not worried about the long or short term future of the trainer.
He also Flick discussed speculations making the rounds that Flick could be appointed as a potential successor of Jogi Löw, Germany’s national team coach.
“Hansi Flick feels comfortable with us, so we don’t have to worry about that. Where would he find a better team and infrastructure than with us? We are happy with him – and he is happy with FC Bayern.
“The task of our sporting management (is to discuss issues bordering on a new contract with the coach). They will sit down with him as soon as this becomes a topic for everyone involved.
“It’s an honor for Hansi Flick and FC Bayern that we have a coach who everyone says could be the national team coach. But Hansi Flick still has a contract with us until 2023.”
Hainer concluded by addressing issues on whether Bayern will participate in next year’s. He also spoke about Flick’s ability to shape an era at FC Bayern and discussions about defending the treble.
“I trust Hansi to shape an era with us by sporting success, humanity, personality and joy at the club. And believe me, we are all full of joy, even though we sometimes seem tense in the stands. We really enjoy watching this team”
“It would be a misinterpretation (to suggest that Bayern must defend the treble), because in this case we would have to win everything every year. Of course it doesn’t work like that. But we have the ambition to achieve maximum success”
“Of course (Bayern will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar). The team and the coach are determined to win the sixth title. The President too, by the way”
