I won’t stop celebrating NWFL jinx-breaker against Rivers – Osahon

FC Robo Queens manager, Emmanuel Osahon has said he experienced “unlimited” joy after securing league victory for the first time against multiple Nigerian champions, Rivers Angels.

The Lagos side defeated the Jewel of Rivers 2-1 in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) matchday 10 clash at the Legacy Pitch, National Stadium in Lagos. Super Falcons’ goal poacher, Gift Monday got a brace while Mary Ologbosere netted the consolation for the visitors.

The ‘Oracle’ as Osahon is nicknamed said he knew that the matchup would be tough and would be won by the side that took their chances.

“Yes, it was tensed match and a tensed victory, I said it would be an interesting match but at the end of the day FC Robo will carry the day and it has happened.

“Rivers are not small team, Rivers are never small team, I know they will come at us, I know they will play.

“We had the first half and we took our chances and they had the second half and they took their chance, it’s like that.

“We need to give respect to the opponents even people you are better off but we came well prepared.

“I know we will carry the day because I have seen them play, I know their strengths and weaknesses.

“We are moving steadily up the ladder, this victory is a big boost, at least, we have started something, at least, we have broken the jinx.

“This is the first time we will beat Rivers Angels in any match that’s why my joy is unlimited and unquantifiable,” said Osahon.

The hard-fought victory takes the Lagos landladies to the fifth spot on the 14-team top-flight log on 18 points seven behind leaders, Bayelsa Queens.
