Kenya’s Junior Starlets have intensified preparations for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, set for next month in Morocco.
The 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 7. Kenya has been drawn in Group E alongside the United States, Samoa and China.
Despite being drawn in a challenging Group, the Junior Starlets remain confident they can compete at the global showpiece.
“We have a very big task at the World Cup. The countries we’re playing are not easy, so we have to prepare our players technically, physically, mentally. They have to be ready,” head coach Mildred Cheche said.
“It’s very different because now we’re going to play with a physical side and also tactically intelligent. So, we cannot have the same approach that we had during the qualifiers. We’ve made a few changes in how we’re going to approach the matches,” she added.
The Junior Starlets are aiming to build on their historic qualification for the tournament as they prepare to face some of the world’s top youth teams.
“Even if they call it the group of death, we believe in ourselves. We will do our best and each game will be decided within 90 minutes,” said defender Pauline Namisi.
