Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will both be hoping the other team drops points going into the final day of the 2020/21 PSL season on Saturday (September 2) with both sides neck and neck. Games kick off at 15:30 CAT (GMT+2).
This will be Kaizer Chiefs’ first title in five years while Sundowns are hoping to win a third successive Absa Premiership title when they face Black Leopards at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Saturday afternoon.
Both sides have shown indifferent form in the run-up to d-day but on Wednesday with everything to play for, they responded well with Sundowns keeping their hopes alive with a 3-0 win over Polokwane City and Kaizer Chiefs keeping their noses ahead with a 1-0 victory at home, thanks to a goal from Khama Billiat.
The teams are tied on points but Chiefs have a three-goal advantage which they will have to maintain if they are to achieve a 10th league title in the PSL.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is positive:
“Last year we won the last match to win the league and we will give Kaizer Chiefs a good run. We closed a 13-point gap and that’s what I’m proud of,”
“In football you can never say never. Last year when we played Free State Stars, I never saw them getting dropped but they were dropped.”
“I don’t trust the last matches, I have enough experience. Even if we have already decided the title, I put in the full line-up.”
| Chiefs manager Ernst Middendorp won’t be leaving anything to chance when squaring up with Baroka FC. “A win with a lot of fighting spirit and that what we needed and what we will need on Saturday. “We have Baroka, a fantastic team as everybody knows… they have to be, otherwise you can’t beat Sundowns. “Our competitors are playing Black Leopards on the same level where you have to expect both opponents will not give anything away at all,” the German tactician said. |
