Dreamstar Ladies’ attacking midfielder, Favour Kalu, is on cloud nine after scoring her first goal in the on-going top-flight league.
The Pride of Lagos drew 1-1 against visiting side, Rivers Angels in Thursday’s (March 11) Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) matchday 9 clash at the ‘Soccer Temple’ Agege Stadium in Lagos.
The goal queen scored the match stunner in the 21st minute before Deborah Abiodun evened the score for the Port Harcourt side in the dying minutes of the clash.
Kalu said the multiple Nigerian champions were “not tough” as they struggled to claim a point in the clash.
“Yes, I’m really happy scoring the goal that earned us a point against Rivers Angels, this is actually my first goal of the season.
“It was a lovely game though, we tried our best and the goal when I scored the goal I thought we have got the three points and unlucky for us in the dying minute they equalised.
“It was equally a good thing for us to get a draw against a big team like Rivers Angels, I thank God for everything.
“Last week after we lost 0-5 to FC Robo Queens our players even I was disturbed of playing against Rivers Angels.
“I thought it will be something tough but looking at it today (Thursday) it was not tough because we played more than them though luck was against us not to pocket the whole three points, we played more than them.
“Football is a funny game not as you planned that it usually turns out things do change, that’s what happened today, Rivers Angels were even the one fighting for draw,” said Kalu.
Kalu said the draw will bring positive changes as the team continues to fight for relevance in the on-going league season.
“The draw will bring a good change for us because we never really expected it to turn out this way, we drawing against Rivers Angels today will spur us on in our next match,” said Kalu.
The draw leaves the Pride of Lagos still at the bottom of the 14-team top-flight log on four points 18 behind league leaders, Bayelsa Queens.
