Kun Khalifat fightback to hold Vandrezzer

A stirring second half comeback proved decisive as Kun Khalifat FC came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Vandrezzer Academy FC on day three of the Nationwide League Division One Zonal League on Wednesday (March 10).

Vandrezzer started in assured fashion and quickly raced to a two-goal lead in a feisty contest at the University of Port Harcourt.
The opening goal came from captain Etioo Dan who finished in exemplary fashion, much to the admiration of the home bench.

Etioo doubled his side’s advantage a minute before the break with a penalty, to hand Vandrezzer what looked like an unassailable advantage. The unheralded Kun Khalifat side, however, had other ideas as they halved the deficit two minutes after the restart.
Charles Enyinnaya was the goalscoring contributor as he dispatched a twice-retaken penalty with ease.

The comeback was complete with 15 minutes remaining, thanks to an impressive Uche Chibueze whose goal ensured both aides a share of the spoils.  Vandrezzer head coach, Andrew Uwe gave his post match assessment afterwards.
“That is football and if you have chances in the first half, you have to take it or the second half will be different,” Uwe told SPNAfricaNews at full time. “As far as our next game is concerned, we will take things one after the other as we are just here to compete.
“The officiating in the tournament will need to improve. I left this country (Nigeria) a long time ago and (I know that only) someone who has knowledge about the game should be handling the game as a referee.
“(But) he is a human being. He made mistakes and no one is perfect but it wasn’t satisfactory the way (the referee) called the game.”

Vandrezzer FC return to action on March 13 when they face Heartland Feeders while Kun Khalifat face Koluama FC on the same day.
