Liverpool have been linked with Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich, according to German media outlet, Bild.
Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 29-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to a report in Bilda. The German came face to face with the Spaniard during his spell in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
Thiago has won seven consecutive Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich since arriving at the Allianz Arena in July 2013 but is apparently keen on a move to Anfield.
Thiago’s still has one year to go on his current deal, until the summer of 2021. With negotiations not producing a contract extension, he could leave on a free transfer then – or perhaps Bayern might cash in during the coming transfer window.
However, it’s also highly unlikely that Bayern would let one of their key stalwarts leave, now that they have found their rhythm and definitely not for cheap. However, with Thiago approaching 30, it could be in everyone’s interest to do a deal.
Thiago would find some useful company at Anfield where they have a growing Brazilian contingent thanks to goalkeeper Allison, midfielder Fabinho and striker Roberto Firmino who despite being a Spanish international, has Brazilian roots.
Thiago is the son of former Brazil international and USA 94 FIFA World Cup winning midfielder, Mazinho.
His brother currently plays international football for Brazil.
