Vandrezzer FC assistant coach, Alfred Mustapha Madaki has promised a convincing victory in the South-West derby clash against neighbours, FC Nilayo.

The Lagos side will host the Abeokuta landlords in Saturday’s Nigeria National League (NNL) Group B1 matchday 2 clash at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Prior to the matchday 2 matchup, Vandrezzer shared the spoils goalless with their hosts, Delta Force at the JJ Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Ukwu in the season’s opener while Nilayo nailed visitors, Nnewi United 2-1 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

Madaki said his side have done their home work perfectly well to deserve victory in the expected tough derby.

“The first home match we are having against FC Nilayo is going to be a very good game. We are prepared for the game and being our first home match we know our fans, sponsors and entire team are expecting a lot from us and I think we are going to do our best and come out victorious,” said the former Joy Comets gaffer.

Madaki said he is not under pressure to perform, he is not going to make excuses but dig deep to maximize the potentials in the players to achieve the best result for the team.

“Every player has his own philosophy and you try to know the players that can enable you to interpret what you wanted in them.

“For the few weeks I have worked with the team I have seen them play, I know there is no excuse that one was not part of the selection.

“One is to add to what one met on ground to make it better and that is the quality of a good coach and try to guide them to use their talents very well.

“I’m not under pressure from anybody, the game is in sequence, we will just take one match at a time. This is our first home game, we have been working very hard towards it and I believe at the end of the day we will come out in flying colours, victorious,” said the amiable coach.

Madaki said his side’s NNL Group B1 opponents are not pushovers but with hard work his side will achieve their heart desires at the end of the campaign.

“We do not have any underdogs in the group, I believe every one there is capable of achieving promotion. I’m not speaking for any team because I know they are all equally good.” Madaki continues.

“We have to take our chances and if we take our chances, make good use of the chances then fine we will get the promotion.

“No coach will bring out a team for the purpose of losing, everybody wants to win, we want to win our games, we want to take the game one at a time and as we go on we will keep planning till we get there.

“We are not going to rush things, we will just have to be calm and focus, one game at a time and with that it’s going to help us to be better,” said the Vandrezzer FC tactician.

Madaki said he is not unmindful of the fact that Vandrezzer FC have become the team to beat among its challengers.

“Yes, I’m aware that most teams want to come out to give us a very good fight, we have become the team to beat.

“Of course, we are prepared, I believe in the players, I have seen their techniques, the way they think, the way the communicate to each other, their temperaments on the field of play, they have this temperament to win, the zeal to win so I’m not afraid of any team.

“If they come hard on us we are going to give them a very good fight to tell them why we are Vandrezzer FC, you cannot take away that resilience in us,” said Madaki.

Madaki said Vandrezzer FC have become a role model to all teams of what a properly run professional football should be.

“Vandrezzer is not merely helping the team but equaling publicising Nigerian football as a whole, if you look at it properly a lot of clubs have started to emulate the team through media publicity, and advertising the players and that has become a necessity right now.

“I just feel it’s a necessity to reach out to the world, tell them what we are doing here in Nigeria and with that it’s not only promoting Vandrezzer image but Nigeria football at large.

“It’s a good thing Vandrezzer have started this, I believe they know what they are doing and why they are doing it,” said Madaki.

Vandrezzer are ninth on the 12-team NNL Group B1 log on one point two behind group leaders, 3SC.
