Interim head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, Ryan Mason has expressed his confidence in Harry Kane’s ‘commitment’ to the club despite rumours of an exit. Reports suggested that Kane informed the club’s hierarchy about his desire to leave Spurs at the end of the 2020-21 season. Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for the England international who is yet to win a major trophy with the club and has been involved in 35 Premier League goals this season. However, Mason has insisted that top flight’s top scorer remains focused with the upcoming season-ending games and is fully committed for their game against Aston Villa. “I speak to Harry pretty much every day. He’s excited along with me about tomorrow,” he said. “Our only discussions have been about the game tomorrow. We’re looking forward to tomorrow. When asked if there was an ‘awkward’ feeling in the Spurs camp, Mason added: “I don’t think anything is awkward. There’s always speculation around the best players, like there’s been speculation around who the next manager will be. “He’s going to be 100 per cent committed [for the Aston Villa game]. I’m looking forward to seeing him play in front of our fans. He starts tomorrow because he’s our best striker.” Kane will be looking to add to his 22 goals and 13 assists when Tottenham welcomes Aston Villa to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
