Muniain also questions Real decisions

Athletic Bilbao captain, Iker Muniain has questioned what he said has to to be a lack of consistency in refereeing decisions to as the Basque club lost 0-1 to Real Madrid in the Liga Santander on Sunday (July 5).

Muniain is just the latest player to question refereeing decisions in games involving Real Madrid following a novel call by FC Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique.

Sergio Ramos scored the decisive penalty at San Mames after a VAR review ruled that Marcelo had been fouled in the box by Athletic Club’s Dani Garcia. Muniain was, however, less than impressed with the call of the match officials over a similar event at the other end and duly voiced his sentiments.

The veteran was particularly irked as there was then no similar call when Raul Garcia appeared to have suffered a similar fate in the Real Madrid penalty area.
“Raul Garcia has been stamped on and they haven’t even reviewed it. That’s the difference,” Munian said.
“We’ve seen the theme in these weeks since the restart – depending on which teams it is, some decisions are given.
“Everyone can draw their own conclusions,” he submitted.

Barcelona stalwart, Pique had previously suggested it would be difficult to stop Madrid winning the title because decisions too often go their way.
Madrid’s captain, Ramos has however been quick to respond.
“People shouldn’t be imagining things,” he retorted.
